These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the FaithFinder website, directories, listings, community areas, forms, communications, subscriptions, digital resources and related services (collectively, the “Services”). In these Terms, “FaithFinder,” “we,” “us” and “our” refer to FaithFinder, and “you” refers to the person or organization using the Services.
By accessing or using the Services, creating an account, submitting information, claiming a listing or purchasing a plan, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you use the Services for a church, ministry, school, business or other organization, you confirm that you have authority to act for that organization and bind it to these Terms.
If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use the Services.
1. Who May Use the Services
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract to create an account, claim or manage a listing, purchase a plan, submit an organization for inclusion, or participate in an adult community area. A parent or legal guardian may use the Services on behalf of a minor where appropriate.
You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the Services complies with the laws and requirements that apply to you and your organization.
2. What FaithFinder Provides
FaithFinder is a discovery, directory, community and growth platform intended to help people find and connect with churches, ministries, Christian schools, faith-based businesses, events, resources and related organizations. The Services may include free directory listings, claimed or verified listings, featured placements, custom profile pages, community groups, events, educational resources, marketing support, lead forms, customer relationship management tools and automation services.
Features may be added, changed, suspended or discontinued over time. Some features may be offered as a beta, pilot or early-access service and may not always work as expected.
3. FaithFinder Is a Directory, Not an Endorsement
Inclusion in FaithFinder does not mean that FaithFinder endorses, accredits, licenses, certifies, recommends or guarantees an organization, person, product, service, event, teaching, belief, employment opportunity or educational program.
FaithFinder does not independently investigate every listed organization or continuously monitor changes to its leadership, beliefs, practices, credentials, licences, safety policies, accessibility, service quality or legal status. Information may come from public sources, an organization, an authorized representative, a community member or a third-party provider.
Before relying on a listing or entering into a relationship or transaction, you should conduct your own review and verify the information that matters to you. This is especially important for matters involving children or vulnerable persons, professional or trade credentials, school accreditation, employment, financial commitments, counselling, health or safety, and an organization’s beliefs or practices.
4. Listing Types and Labels
FaithFinder may use labels such as “free,” “claimed,” “verified” or “featured.” These labels have the following limited meanings:
- Free or basic listing: a directory entry that may be created from public information or information submitted to FaithFinder.
- Claimed listing: a person representing the organization has completed FaithFinder’s claim process. This does not mean that FaithFinder has completed a background check or independently verified every statement.
- Verified listing: selected listing information has been reviewed or confirmed through FaithFinder’s then-current verification process. Verification is not accreditation, certification, approval or an endorsement, and information may change after verification.
- Featured listing or placement: the organization receives paid or promotional visibility, which may include priority placement, category or carousel placement, additional content, enhanced calls to action, or a custom profile page. A featured label identifies promotional placement; it is not a ranking of quality or trustworthiness.
FaithFinder may change its listing labels or verification process. We may require additional information or reverification to maintain a label.
5. Claiming and Managing a Listing
When you claim, submit or manage a listing, you confirm that:
- You are authorized to act for the listed organization.
- The information you provide is accurate, current and not misleading.
- You have the right to provide and authorize the use of all names, logos, photographs, reviews, testimonials, links and other materials you submit.
- Your submission does not infringe another person’s intellectual property, privacy, publicity or other rights.
- You will promptly update or request correction of information that is no longer accurate.
Claiming a listing does not transfer ownership of FaithFinder’s page design, directory structure, software or other platform materials. FaithFinder may refuse a claim, request proof of authority, resolve competing claims, correct a listing, remove content or suspend management access when reasonably necessary.
6. Directory Corrections, Objections and Removal Requests
If you believe a listing is inaccurate, outdated, unauthorized, infringing or otherwise inappropriate, contact us through https://faithfinder.ca/contact/ and provide enough information for us to assess the request.
We may ask you to verify your identity, authority or rights before changing or removing information. FaithFinder may preserve records reasonably required for legal, security, fraud-prevention or business purposes even if public-facing content is corrected or removed.
7. Accounts and Community Areas
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for activity conducted through your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.
Community areas are intended for respectful, constructive participation. Content shared in a group or member area may be seen, copied or shared by other participants. Do not treat a community post as confidential, and do not post sensitive personal information unless it is necessary and you are authorized to do so.
FaithFinder may establish additional community guidelines, group rules or moderator instructions. Those rules form part of these Terms for the applicable community area.
8. Acceptable Use
You must not use the Services to:
- Break the law, facilitate unlawful activity or violate another person’s rights.
- Submit false, deceptive, defamatory, discriminatory, threatening, abusive, obscene or fraudulent content.
- Impersonate another person or organization, misrepresent your authority or create a misleading affiliation.
- Post fake reviews, undisclosed paid endorsements, fabricated testimonials or content based on an experience that did not occur.
- Harass, exploit or endanger another person, including a child or vulnerable person.
- Send spam, scrape personal information, harvest contact details or use directory information for unlawful or unauthorized mass solicitation.
- Upload malicious code, interfere with security, bypass access controls, overload the Services, probe for vulnerabilities or disrupt another user’s access.
- Copy, crawl, scrape, reproduce or commercially exploit a material portion of the directory or Services without our written permission.
- Use automated systems to access the Services in a way that places an unreasonable burden on the platform or conflicts with instructions provided through the Services.
FaithFinder may investigate suspected misuse and may remove content, restrict features, suspend accounts or cooperate with lawful investigations where appropriate.
9. User Content
“User Content” means information or materials you submit to the Services, including listing details, descriptions, logos, photographs, videos, reviews, comments, event information and community posts.
You retain any ownership rights you have in your User Content. You grant FaithFinder a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, format, adapt for display, publish, distribute and promote that content as reasonably necessary to operate, improve and market the Services and your listing. This licence includes the right to create thumbnails, crop images for different layouts, correct formatting and display your organization’s name and logo in directory and promotional placements.
You may request removal of your User Content, but copies may remain in backups, records or prior communications for a reasonable period. Removing content does not affect uses already made in accordance with these Terms.
FaithFinder is not required to publish, preserve or monitor User Content. We may edit formatting, reject, restrict or remove content that we reasonably believe violates these Terms, creates legal or safety risk, is inaccurate or is not appropriate for the Services.
10. Reviews and Testimonials
Reviews and testimonials must reflect genuine experiences and must not be misleading. Any material connection, payment, discount, gift or other incentive connected to a review or endorsement must be clearly disclosed.
FaithFinder may moderate or remove reviews that appear fraudulent, abusive, irrelevant, unlawful, copied, submitted through a conflict of interest or inconsistent with these Terms. We do not guarantee that every review will be investigated or that every dispute will be resolved to a party’s satisfaction.
11. Plans, Prices and Payment
Some Services are free and others require payment. Prices, included features, billing frequency, taxes, promotional terms and any automatic renewal will be disclosed at checkout, in an order form or in a separate written agreement. Unless expressly stated otherwise, prices are in Canadian dollars.
By purchasing a paid Service, you authorize FaithFinder and its payment provider to charge the payment method you provide for the amounts and on the schedule disclosed at checkout. You are responsible for keeping your billing information current and for applicable taxes.
Recurring subscriptions renew for the disclosed billing period until cancelled. Unless different terms are disclosed at checkout or in a written agreement, you may cancel before the next renewal through any available account setting or by contacting FaithFinder. Cancellation prevents future renewals and normally takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period.
Except where required by law or expressly stated at checkout or in a written agreement, fees already charged are non-refundable, and no credit is provided for a partially used billing period. Promotional pricing, free periods and discounts may be subject to eligibility requirements, a minimum commitment or other conditions disclosed with the offer.
If a payment fails or becomes overdue, FaithFinder may retry the charge, suspend paid features, remove featured placement or terminate the affected Service after any notice required by law or agreement.
FaithFinder may change prices or plan features prospectively. Changes to an active recurring subscription will take effect no earlier than the next renewal after reasonable notice, unless you agree otherwise. Nothing in these Terms limits a cancellation, refund or other right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
12. Marketing, Automation and Professional Services
Growth plans, marketing support, customer relationship management tools, lead forms, automations, consulting, website work or other professional services may be governed by an order form, proposal, statement of work or separate agreement. If that document conflicts with these Terms, the specific written agreement controls for the conflicting part of those Services.
Unless expressly guaranteed in a signed written agreement, FaithFinder does not guarantee search rankings, audience growth, leads, conversions, revenue, attendance, donations, membership growth, deliverability or any other business or ministry result.
You remain responsible for approving your content, offers, contact lists, campaigns and communications and for ensuring that they comply with privacy, anti-spam, advertising, fundraising and other applicable laws.
13. Third-Party Services and Links
The Services may link to or integrate with websites, maps, social networks, payment processors, community platforms, analytics providers, customer relationship management systems and other services operated by third parties. Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices.
FaithFinder does not control and is not responsible for third-party content, security, availability, products, services, transactions or conduct. A link or integration does not imply endorsement.
14. FaithFinder Intellectual Property
The Services, including FaithFinder’s branding, page designs, software, original text, graphics, selection and arrangement of directory content, and other platform materials, are owned by or licensed to FaithFinder and are protected by intellectual property laws.
FaithFinder grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Services for their intended purpose in accordance with these Terms. No other rights are granted.
If you believe content on FaithFinder infringes your copyright or other rights, contact us with identification of the work, the allegedly infringing material, your contact information and an explanation of your authority to make the request.
15. Privacy and Electronic Communications
Our collection, use and disclosure of personal information are described in the FaithFinder Privacy Policy.
By submitting a form, creating an account or purchasing a Service, you agree to receive service messages reasonably required to administer your request, account, listing, community access or transaction. Promotional communications will be sent in accordance with applicable law, and you may unsubscribe using the method provided in the message. You may still receive non-promotional service or transaction notices where appropriate.
16. Suspension and Termination
You may stop using the Services at any time. FaithFinder may restrict, suspend or terminate access, remove content or listings, or decline to provide Services if we reasonably believe that:
- You have violated these Terms or an applicable agreement.
- Your information is materially inaccurate or misleading.
- Your use creates legal, security, reputational or safety risk.
- Payment is overdue.
- Suspension is required by law or by a service provider on which the Services depend.
Where reasonable, we will provide notice and an opportunity to correct the issue. We may act immediately where necessary to protect people, data, the platform or third parties.
Provisions that by their nature should continue after termination will survive, including provisions concerning payment obligations, intellectual property, licences already granted, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnity and dispute terms.
17. Service Availability and Disclaimers
FaithFinder works to provide useful, accurate and reliable Services, but directories and online platforms inevitably contain changing information and may experience interruptions or errors.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties or conditions of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including implied warranties or conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability or uninterrupted operation.
FaithFinder does not warrant that listings are complete or current, that an organization will respond, that community content is accurate, that the Services will always be available or secure, or that defects will be corrected immediately.
Content on FaithFinder is for general information and discovery. It is not legal, financial, medical, mental-health, safeguarding, employment, educational-accreditation or professional advice. FaithFinder is not an emergency service.
18. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, FaithFinder and its owners, officers, employees, contractors and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue, opportunities, goodwill, data or anticipated savings, arising from or related to the Services.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, FaithFinder’s total aggregate liability arising from or related to the Services will not exceed the amount you paid to FaithFinder for the specific Service giving rise to the claim during the 12 months before the event giving rise to liability. If you used only free Services, FaithFinder’s total aggregate liability will not exceed CAD $100.
These limitations apply regardless of the legal theory of the claim and even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose. They do not exclude liability or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
19. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, if you use the Services for an organization, submit User Content, manage a listing or use the Services for commercial or organizational purposes, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless FaithFinder and its owners, officers, employees and contractors from third-party claims, losses, liabilities, damages and reasonable costs arising from:
- Your User Content.
- Your organization’s products, services, events, employment opportunities or conduct.
- Your breach of these Terms or a separate agreement.
- Your violation of another person’s rights or applicable law.
This section does not require you to indemnify FaithFinder for FaithFinder’s own unlawful conduct.
20. Changes to These Terms
FaithFinder may update these Terms as the Services, business practices or legal requirements change. The revised Terms will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
For material changes affecting an active paid subscription, we will provide reasonable notice where required. The revised Terms apply from their stated effective date. If you do not agree with an update, you must stop using the affected Services and cancel any recurring subscription before its next renewal.
21. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Alberta, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Before starting formal proceedings, you and FaithFinder agree to make a reasonable effort to resolve the concern by contacting the other party and describing the issue and requested resolution. Unless applicable law requires otherwise, disputes that cannot be resolved informally will be brought before the courts located in Calgary, Alberta.
Nothing in these Terms prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive relief or using a court, tribunal, complaint process or consumer remedy that cannot lawfully be restricted.
22. General Terms
These Terms, the Privacy Policy, any applicable community rules and any order form or separate written agreement constitute the agreement between you and FaithFinder concerning the applicable Services.
If a provision is found unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without FaithFinder’s consent. FaithFinder may assign these Terms in connection with a reorganization, financing, merger, sale or transfer of all or part of its operations.
FaithFinder is not responsible for delay or failure caused by circumstances reasonably beyond its control, including internet or hosting outages, cyber incidents, labour disruptions, natural disasters, government action or failure of a third-party service.
